Ordinance First Readings:
Comprehensive Plan 08152022: As required by the County, the Town accepts the provided Comprehensive Plan, with previously mentioned and agreed upon revisions suggested by Planning (see August minutes).
Chicken and Goat Ordinance 03212022: Ordinance amending Town Code Chapter 3 Animals and Fowl Article 1, 3.103 Animal Care

- WILPC: Henry Holst – October 7 Johns Island High School football game and parade. Parade at 3 PM and kickoff at 7 PM. Tickets $10 online/ $20 gate.
Crime Report indicates that there was a robbery on 8/30 on Tacky Point Road. The report also indicates a rise in the amount of utility trailer thefts.
Charleston County council seeks to redistrict Johns Island.
October 8 – Dinner at the Community Center – $10 donation that goes to support a cancer research.
County has trimmed low hanging limbs on Bears Bluff but only on the right side. Louis Hay is continuing to follow up on having the left side and Maybank Highway cleared.
Accident past Bentz Rd. involving a tractor trailer with a lowboy with a heavy piece of equipment. The truck swerved to miss a low hanging limb, and the equipment fell off of the trailer and demolished the car behind it.
New Business:
Town Website needs the attorney’s name changed to Charles J. Baker III. Mayor notes that prior Attorney Mr. Warren, who has recently passed away, was one of the great attorneys of our State and the Town was truly blessed to have had him.
Wedding at SIYC planned for 10/8/22 – the wedding planner presented for Town approval, a photo of a 36ft bus which is way too big. Mayor suggested a smaller bus, or to shuttle guests, which is what was ultimately decided upon.
Charleston Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan Report – Mayor acknowledged on behalf of Council that the Town has been noticed of changes to the report. County Requirement. Shout out to Anna Kimelblatt, from the County, for her assistance with all CRHMP matters.
There is a commonly used practice for rabies treatment, that most states implement, which involves dropping pellets via airplane that are consumed orally by racoons. SC does not do it. The Mayor logged the Towns interest in having this done locally.
Old Business:
Training – Mayor has emailed all Committee Chairs. DRB has completed training. Henry Holst notes that DRB is meeting this week.
Roads – Heavy rain – possibly record amount for August, has slowed road repairs. SIYC and Rockland has been manicured. Material to be delivered this week to continue repairs. Council is still waiting on a bid from Scott Tallent .
