Old Business:
SLRF reporting (COVID funds) has been completed with the help of MASC. Funds must be used by 2024.
Road aprons – Sea Island Yacht Club, Grace Chapel and S. Rockland Roads all in need of repair. Mayor has
received a bid from Charleston Green of $2500 per apron/ $7500 for all 3. Aprons will be raised up and/or
extended to meet level of dirt road. Henry Holst is in process of collecting additional quotes. Mayor suggests
consenting to use Charleston Green unless a pending quote comes in lower.
DNR/Willie Ladue has taken the lead on removing the vessel in disrepair in Bohicket Creek. Currently waiting
on the draft of the boat which is a drawing that is being searched for to learn how much water the vessel
displaces. Several entities, including port official John Cameron, are working on the boats removal.
STR Ordinance draft is ready. Council approved the following revisions made by Planning:
- Article C section 2 – any accessory unit must fall under the same guidelines. All structures must have
the same cap on the number of days rented. The total may not be tallied per unit on a property. - Article E section 1 – Remove this section (the amount of people allowed per rental section)
Clerk to run ad to publish reading of STR Ordinance at October meeting. Also include Budget and Rockville
Intergovernmental Local Revenue Ordinances. The Rockville Intergovernmental Local Revenue Ordinance
allows the Town to maintain its connection to the State of South Carolina and continue to receive a tax fund
benefit.
New Business:
Town Election set for November. 7 th Candidates may run from August 14 until September 7. Mayor
distributed candidate forms. Whit Smith and Tammy Bazzle to run to replace Judy Suggs and David Dunn.
Statement of Economic Interest will also be due. Council discussed taking formal pictures of Council Members
CDH invoice $650 for road work done prior to Regatta. They will be back soon for additional maintenance.
Tree in Glenn’s yard has been cut as it was growing into walking easement. County said permit was not
needed to perform the work.
Iron buoy may need repairs/maintenance.
